Biographical sketch:

Professor Mario Maggi is Chief of the Andrology Unit, Department of Clinical Physiopathology, University of Florence, Florence, Italy, accredited training center of the European Academy of Andrology. At the University of Florence he received the MD and the Board in Endocrinology. Since September 2000 he is Full Professor of Endocrinology at the Medical School of the University of Florence. Professor Mario Maggi is Associate Editor for the international journals Molecular Human Reproduction and Acta Physiologica Scandinavica. He is on the Editorial Board of Journal Sexual Medicine and is acting as academic reviewer for several journals. Professor Mario Maggi is the co-author of more than 140 peer-reviewed manuscripts, has written numerous book chapters and invited reviews in the field of human reproduction and sexual medicine. In the same fields, he has lectured at both national and international meetings and received numerous research grants. He organized several national and international meetings and was the Chairman of the II European Congress of Andrology. Professor Mario Maggi is a member of the Scientific Committee of The European Society for Sexual Medicine (Basic Science) and of the Società Italian Society of Medical Andrology, and member of the Didactic Committee of The Italian Society for Endocrinology.
